French soprano Mia Mandineau is quickly becoming recognized for her beautiful voice, sensitive artistry and compelling stage presence.

During the 2025–26 season, Mia Mandineau joins Detroit Opera as a Resident Artist, performing widely across the Detroit area. She appears on the Detroit Opera mainstage as a Handmaid in Ruders’ The Handmaid’s Tale and in John Cage’s Apartment House 1776. She also continues her collaboration with conductor Glen Cortese as the soloist in John Corigliano’s song cycle Mr. Tambourine Man with the Saratoga Symphony in New York, and presents a solo recital with pianist Nathalie Doucet at St. Clair Community College.

In the 2024–25 season, Ms. Mandineau performed a concert of Mozart arias with the Catskill Symphony, Fiordiligi in Hillman Opera’s Così fan tutte, Micaëla in the Washington National Opera Orchestra’s concert production of Carmen, Irene Adler in the world premiere of Glen Cortese’s 221B: A Sherlock Holmes Opera, and her first musical theatre role as Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music.

Highlights of the 2023–24 season include being named a District Winner and Regional Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition; winning First Place in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), colORCHESTRA, and Fredonia School of Music Concerto competitions; joining the Wolf Trap Opera Company as a member of its prestigious Studio Program; and performing a principal role in the world premiere of Nicholas Bentz and Robert Feng’s Having Guests for Dinner.

The 2022–23 season saw her debut as a soloist at the Megaron Concert Hall with the Athens State Orchestra, perform at the Festival ‘Printemps des Comédiens’ in Montpellier in Carole Fréchette’s Ismène, and debut the role of Elle in Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine, which she co-produced with pianist-dancer Clément Rataud.

Selected from an international pool of singers, Ms. Mandineau joined the Sir Georg Solti Accademia in 2022, working with Barbara Frittoli, Roberto Frontali, and Richard Bonynge. Previous engagements include a debut at the Concertgebouw in a concert presented by the Grote Zangers Foundation,, and a performance as Mère Marie in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites with the CvA Concert Opera Series.

In addition to her work as a performer, Ms. Mandineau is passionate about arts education. As the founder of the successful YouTube channel L’Opéra et ses Zouz, she has enjoyed partnerships with the Opéra de Paris, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Opéra National de Bordeaux, Detroit Opera, OperaVision, the National Swiss Opera, Palazzetto BruZane, and the national French radio and television. She received an important grant from the French National Centre of Cinematography (CNC) to further her work with the channel.

Ms. Mandineau was awarded a Fellowship to the SUNY Fredonia School of Music, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Don Marrazzo, with whom she previously completed her Bachelor’s Degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (CvA) and her Artist Certificate at the Musical Horizons Conservatory in Athens.
